In this reflective and skill-building workshop, DTI doula educator Ana Rodney explores the unique role of the doula in the NICU, centering trauma-informed care, family advocacy, and compassionate presence for parents navigating medicalized early parenting.

Workshop goals:

  • Understanding the emotional and medical landscape of the NICU from a doula’s scope of practice
  • Supporting bonding, attachment, and parental confidence in highly clinical environments
  • Applying trauma-informed and grief-aware support strategies for NICU families
  • Strengthening communication and advocacy skills with families and care teams
  • Caring for the doula’s nervous system while holding space for prolonged uncertainty and stress

This workshop is led by Ana Rodney
