Together, we are cultivating culturally humble communities that reimagine the role of reproductive care. We believe that families deserve compassionate, evidenced-based support at all stages of life—no matter their gender, race, religion, class or sexual orientation.
Our Scholarship Program Initiative
DTI is committed to lowering disparities in perinatal and infant health. To make a positive impact on the landscape of birth for every doula and every person, we provide scholarships for People of the Global Majority or trans, two-spirit or gender non-conforming individuals.
*People of the Global Majority highlights the global numerical reality that Black, Indigenous, Asian, Latinx, and other non-white people together form most of the world's population and offers a more empowering, accurate alternative to terms like "minority."
DTI is committed to inclusivity throughout our programs and program materials. Birth givers, caregivers and birth workers are women, transgender, nonbinary, or other genders. We know that everyone who gives birth deserves quality care, but issues of gender and identity are still received with much confusion and discrimination within the environments where people experience pregnancy and birth. So beyond acknowledging the uniqueness of the human experience, we open doors to expand access to reproductive health support that's culturally relevant, responsive, and based in advocacy.
As an organization we are committed to offering as many as 60 scholarships per year. We meet this goal through our pay-it-forward model, allotting 25% of all full paying members' tuition fees into the scholarship fund.
We host other special in-person trainings from time to time which are dependent on whether additional funding has been received.

What does People of the Global Majority mean?
The term "people of the global majority" refers to individuals who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) — essentially, the groups that collectively make up most of the world's population.
It is a reframing term that moves away from deficit-based language like “minorities” (which often centers a white, Western norm) and instead emphasizes that globally, people of color are the vast majority. It’s meant to affirm identity, promote solidarity, and challenge racial hierarchies that label non-white groups as “minor” or “other.”

Become a Community Partner
The DTI team works to create community partners at local and global levels to support other efforts that align with our reproductive health mission.
Every year DTI allocates a minimum of $5,000 to sponsor community partners, campaigns and BIPOC midwifery student funds. Each year DTI hopes to be able to increase resources to put back into community partners by allocating student tuition, selling merch from the DTI shop and membership fees. If you are looking for support and want to share what you are doing in your community use the DTI platform.
