Introducing Check Yourself—our newest campaign advocating for reproductive health education that’s accurate, inclusive and responsible.
Now through Giving Tuesday on Dec. 3, every purchase of our Check Yourself beanie and tee will go directly toward funding indigenous people and people of color (including the LGBTQIA+ communities) through the DTI Full Spectrum Doula Training and Certification Programming. Funds raised offer partial and full scholarships to these communities, pay speakers and educators from these communities and create more opportunities for leaders in these communities.
Why does checking our bodies (and our privileges) matter?
1.) People with uteruses deserve to know about their bodies before they have to fight for them.
2.) Life is affected by barriers brought about by sociopolitical and historical contexts (race, gender, class, religion, traditions, and sexual orientation) implicit bias, lack of cultural competency and straight-up discrimination is getting in the way of true informed consent and education about reproductive health.
3.) Birth-workers play an important role in educating the public about overall reproductive health, so we need birth-workers from all walks of life.
How can you support the Check Yourself campaign?
1.) Buy a tee or a beanie between now and Giving Tuesday on December 3. Every purchase will go directly toward funding indigenous people and people of color (including the LGBTQIA+ communities) through the DTI Full Spectrum Doula Training and Certification Programming.
2.) Let the world know why you care about responsible reproductive health! Share the #checkyourself campaign with your friends and family on social media.
3.) Attend our Check Yourself workshop on Jan. 11 in Austin, Texas to learn about cycles, hormones, bodies and informed consent.
