DTI's tribe is growing! This summer we have had ideas brewing about how we can continue to grow and educate birth workers around the world. Well, there is no better place to look then our original tribe. In the past we have shared with you that without our community organically built "back in the day", we wouldn't t be where we are today. So today we are THRILLED to announce that Aimee Brill will be joining DTI as a Partner!
The three of us go way back. Before we had babies, families, grander ideas….we found each other. Aimee has been a dear friend, sounding board and guide from our early days as doulas in NYC. Essentially, we all built our practices together from the ground up and supported one another along the way. We have GROWN together as doulas, women and mothers. And now here we are again, full circle. Working side by side. Making new changes, sharing ideas and supporting each other. We couldn't be more excited to start this new journey!
So why do we love Aimee so much? Why is she simply awesome? Its her heart. Its her TRUE love for birth.
Aimee Brill sincerely loves being a doula, believes in the sacredness of birth, and feels that every birth is an honor to witness. She has been a certified labor support and postpartum doula since 2003. Soon after becoming a doula, she continued her education and became a certified childbirth educator through Lamaze International receiving additional training through Birthing From Within, Childbirth Education Association of Metropolitan New York and completed the Farm's Assistant Midwifery Workshop. She is also certified through Karen Brody’s, Rock Your Birth Facilitator program, offering group and private classes, tele-classes, and private birth counseling and yoga nidra sessions. She is a founding member of BirthNetwork CNY and co-founder of Co-Mothering CNY. She has had the privilege to learn from mentors in the field such as Ina May Gaskin, Elizabeth Davis, Pam England, Penny Simkin, and Michel Odent.
Having spent several months training as a midwife’s apprentice in northern Uganda, Aimee founded Village Birth International, an international midwifery organization devoted to supporting humane and peaceful births for women and their families in war affected countries.
One of Aimee’s greatest loves is supporting a woman who is interested in becoming a doula. She is thrilled to be partnering with DTI and believes that through mentorship and support, every doula can reach their highest potential and be a catalyst toward true empowerment and transformation as an individual and in our current culture of birth. She continues to support families as a doula and educator through Village Birth. She currently lives in Syracuse, NY with her husband and two beautiful boys. So be on the look out for trainings in her area!
