Uplifting new dads and non-birthing parents will be Thursday, June 12th at 12:30pm EST / 11:30am CST / 9:30am PST

Explore how doulas can uplift and support new dads and non-birthing parents during the transition to parenthood. Through real-life stories from fathers, we’ll delve into the challenges and joys of non-birthing parents’ experiences, while also reframing their roles and identities. Participants will leave with actionable practices to include and affirm non-birthing parents in meaningful ways, as well as an understanding of mental health concerns, like postpartum depression, that affect dads. This interactive session will provide research-backed insights, practical tools, and space for open Q&A to address the unique needs of non-gestational parents.

In this workshop we will explore:

--Dads' experiences
--Reframing the role of non-birthing parents
--Shifts towards new identities in parenthood
--Practices to affirm and include non-birthing parents
--Research-backed info on postpartum depression and mood disorders in men
--Take home actions to put into practice

This workshop is led by Andrew Gordon-Kirsch

Andrew Gordon-Kirsch is an organizational psychologist, leadership coach, and dedicated new dad. Since 2023, he has been running dads groups, facilitating 10 cohorts that have supported over 100 men (and their families) in navigating the joys and challenges of parenthood.

With a Master’s degree in Organizational Change Management and expertise in group dynamics and men’s work, Andrew’s purpose is to build kinship and community among dads, fostering the support men need to show up as full parents. Rather than positioning himself as the "Fatherhood Expert," Andrew approaches his work with curiosity, empathy, and authenticity, fostering environments where fathers can share openly, celebrate their triumphs, and support one another.

Andrew also collaborates with perinatal professionals, equipping them with tools to better support non-gestational parents of all genders during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. He strives to create inclusive, supportive spaces where all parents feel confident and valued in their roles.

Andrew lives in Oakland, California, with his spouse and daughter. Learn more at andrewgk.com.
